Condor Village Parang
There’s no denying that a machete is your best friend when you are traveling through an outdoor environment where the trail may be overgrown, or perhaps there is no trail at all and you’re making one as you go. Most machetes will make quick work of the overgrowth in front of you, but not all are made the same and that is where you really need to do your research. There really is a big difference between that $8.00 local hardware store machete and one you can find at a higher end location, or of course, on the internet.
Eating on the Run. Survival Foraging for Plant, Grasses, Nuts and Berries
Survival preparedness. It seems it is everywhere these days. Maybe I'm just more attuned to it now since I've become a “Monkey”. Maybe it is more prevalent. What ever the case may be, it is a good idea to have some idea of what to do in a dire situation. Mostly you hear about storing, canning, what to put in your “bug out bag”, etc. but what if you are stranded? I most certainly would panic a bit. I mean I am the woman who would have frozen for sure in a lovely cabin off of Lake Erie one New Years weekend if it wasn't for my husband who rescued me (and my brother and his girlfriend at the time).
CRKT Folts S.P.E.W.
In January of 2011 I reviewed CRKT’s Folts Minimalist Bowie and Tanto knives which were variants of the original Minimalist that featured a Wharncliffe blade. Last year CRKT added the slightly larger Folts S.P.E.W. to their line up of neck knives. The designation S.P.E.W. stands for Small Pocket Everyday Wharncliffe. Don’t be turned off by the odd moniker for this knife. At its core the S.P.E.W. is an extremely functional and well crafted fixed blade knife.
